I thoroughly enjoyed this one-hour read of the life of Ernest Hemingway. It was all the time that I wanted to invest in reading about his life, which I found not very inspiring (married three times, e.g), and having read one novel (The Sun Also...) I did not appreciate the supposed value of his style (straight forward, short sentences). For a master of literary usage, read Charles Dickens.
Somehow - this reads as rather a 'dry' and dispassionate account of an interesting life.Hemmingway certainly does not seem to have been a lovable … or faithful …. character.Still - there was a lot to learn about a troubled but famed author and his truly wide range of experiences..
Understand the man, his talents and his flaws a lot more than before reading this brief bio. Just enough vital information without the excessive fluff that does not add important detail. Surprised at his heroics during the conflicts he covered and served in.
Highly recommended! All my life, I knew about Ernest Hemingway. But, I knew nothing of Ernest Hemingway. This book is help me get to know Ernest Hemingway. I will probably search out some of his works and now read them.
Well written short history of a tormented man. Ernest Hemingway was a great writer but, a very confused man. He couldn't handle many of life's situations. Still, he was one of America's greatest writers.
The essence of Hemingway is wonderfully captured and described. Enjoyed reading this book. I would definitely recommend you read this bio.
you hear a lot about him but this helps you know him
I have read several "Hourly Histories", and have enjoyed them all. Hemingway was particularly interesting. Having read this biography it has encouraged me to learn more of him.
