The ultimate message is that the artist's mission in the church should be spreading the gospel ,and that the art is just a means to an end rather than being a focus point in and of itself. He covers musicians, visual artists, media technicians, writers, singers, and the like.The author gives very thorough descriptions of problems in the church concerning the artist and his or her ministry as well as many of the potential emotions involved. Not only does the author explain relatable scenarios concerning these problems but he also gives possible solutions to avoiding offense, envy, selfishness,misguidance, etc. With a quote at the beginning of each chapter and questions at the end of each chapter, the author is able to drive his point home.Noland's approach appears to be fresh, down to earth and often humorous. In the end, the author entices the reader into following him on a journey behind church doors, and into the heart of an artist.
