About the Author
Jack Buck was a Hall of Fame play-by-play announcer for various sports and teams, most notably the St. Louis Cardinals. He passed away in 2002.Rob Rains has been writing about baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals for over 25 years. Interesting to discover a bit about the man I first remember listening to at age 7. A generational view of 50 years in the sports business and has it has evolved, for better or worse.
Mr. Buck doesn't pull any punches. You know where he stands on every issue and how he feels about the individuals he meets and works with. I didn't realize all that was going on in the booth or the club house. As a Cardinals fan, I always enjoyed his baseball announcing. But he was equally good with other sports.
Purchased as a gift for my husband who is a huge Cardinal fan. He has enjoyed this book so much!
It was a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law who enjoys reading about local personalities from the neighborhood.
Loved hearing about the broadcasting of sports when the game was the main focus NOT the guys in the booth.
